D&RGW Mogul Steam Loco, 248, Sound, Collection Item
Brand New in the box. Rare find..
For many, the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad represents the golden age of narrow gauge railroading in America. At its peak in 1929, the D&RGW operated a network of more than 800 miles (1280 km) of three-foot gauge track in the scenic mountains of western Colorado and northern New Mexico. Most of that is now gone, but several segments still thrive as tourist lines, most notably the spectacular Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. With this classic LGB 2-6-0 steamer, you can recreate both the sights and sounds of the D&RGW. The illuminated firebox flickers, and the built-in digital sound system impresses with synchronized steam "chuff" sounds, prototypical whistle and bell sounds plus air pump, safety valve, and boiler leakage sounds.
The Prototype The Mogul locomotive is an American classic. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, more than 10,000 of these versatile locos were built for freight and passenger service throughout North America. The term "Mogul" refers to the "2-6-0" wheel configuration of these locos: two small guide wheels followed by six big driving wheels and no trailing wheels.
