Starting in 1973, Switzerland´s Rhätische Bahn (RhB) purchased 23 of these modern electric locos. Today, they are the backbone of the RhB´s motive power roster, often doubleheading heavy trains on the railway´s many mountainous routes. Each loco is named after a town along the line.
