The Prototype:
This vererable loco began its long life as a Number 206, one of seven "boxcab" locos purchased by the Rhatishce Ban in 1913 for their line from St. Moritz to Scoul. It was reconstructed in 1927 after an incident in the Magnacun Tunnel. In 1943, the RhB replaced the original box body with a center cab for imporved visibility, hence the name "flatiron." Renumbered 212, it went back to the shop for upgrades in both 1968 and 1986. Then, in 1993 it was extensively serviced.
