To make sure that his Disneyland Railroad was ready to operate for the inauguration of Disneyland on July 17, 1955, Walt Disney had his first two locomotives built in his studio workshops, based on original drawings. The wonderful “C. K. Holliday” was named after the founder of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway, which was the sponsor of the Disneyland Railroad during its early years. An almost identical copy of the “C.K. Holliday” was built in 1992 by H.P. Phillips in Wales. Since April 1992, it has operated in Disneyland Paris. This makes the “C.K. Holliday” the only locomotive that exists twice on the roster of the Disneyland Railroad. This LGB model shows the loco in its current livery and is equipped with digital sound. This reproduces not only the sounds of a working steam locomotive, but also original station announcements from Disneyland. But this loco model offers even more. Standard features include an onboard MTS decoder and a smoke generator. Together with the new ©Disney “Lilly Belle” and “Long Island” passenger cars, you can assemble a prototypical consist.
